Growing up in Alberta, Gregg was a Western League all-star with the Edmonton Junior Oil Kings in 1967 and 1968. He was the second-round amateur draft pick of Los Angeles in 1969 but never did play for the Kings, being traded instead to Vancouver in May 1971. A versatile performer who played both forward and defence, he spent five seasons in the Canucks organization, scoring 23 goals and 44 assists in 273 NHL games between 1971 and 1976. One of his fondest memories was being a member of the ǃÚ74-75 Canuck squad which captured the Smythe Division title. A longtime member of the Canucks Alumni hockey team, ǃ?Cheyenneǃ? (as heǃÙs nicknamed), now skates as a referee at alumni games. He is also an accomplished golfer and boasts a single-digit handicap. Boddy is now involved in the insurance business.
