A relative rookie with the Alumni team, Doug Bodger was originally the second choice (9th overall) of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft following a stellar junior career with Kamloops in the WHL. He would go on to enjoy 16 fine seasons in the NHL with the Pens, Buffalo, San Jose, New Jersey and Los Angeles before winding down his career with Vancouver in 1999-2000. All told, he played 1,071 games, had 106 goals, 422 assists, 528 points and1,007 minutes in penalties. Following his retirement as a player, he returned to Vancouver Island where he operates a sporting goods shop in Duncan and assists in coaching the Cowichan junior hockey club.
