After playing minor hockey in Peterborough, Bob Murray went to Michigan Tech University where he played on the schools hockey squad, earning All-American honours and playing alongside fellow Canucks alumnus John Grisdale. He turned pro in 1971-72 with Montreals top AHL farm club, the Nova Scotia Voyageurs, earning all-star status in 1973. He was traded to Atlanta for two seasons and then came to Vancouver (March 9/75) in a deal which sent Gerry Meehan to the Flames. His arrival in Vancouver coincided with the Canucks first-ever championship (1974-75) and playoff appearance. He spent three seasons in the Canucks organization before retiring as a player in 1977. Bo has been a longtime director of the alumni association and was the hockey teams general manager for a number of years. He is a partner in a job recruitment company in downtown Vancouver.
