Mike MacWilliam played his junior hockey with Medicine Hat of the WHL where he was a teammate of Trevor Linden on the 1987 Tigers team that captured the Memorial Cup. He was signed as a free agent by Philadelphia Flyers in 1986 and he turned pro in the International League in 1988-89, but injuries kept him out of all but 24 games over the next two seasons. The big (6 foot 4, 230 lbs) left winger played for a number of minor league clubs before being called up for a stint with the NHL New York Islanders in 1995-96. His best season of point production came in 1993-94 when he scored 16-12-28 in 39 games with Tulsa (IHL). His Denver Grizzlies won the Turner Cup in 1994-95 and MacWilliam was voted IHL Man of the Year. He finished his North American hockey career in 1996-97 with Phoenix of the IHL and then went the U.K. where he played two more seasons with the Cardiff (Wales) Devils. His career also included one season (1994-94) of professional roller hockey with the Vancouver Voodoo.
