Lofty is another alumnus who cut his teeth with Ernie McLeans Memorial Cup winning New Westminster Bruins in the 70s. He was selected in the 2nd round (21st overall) by Washington in the 1977 Amateur Draft and played four seasons for the Capitals before being dealt to Detroit in the summer of 1981. All told, Lofthouse played six NHL seasons, scoring 42-38-80 in 181 games. His NHL highlight came at the expense of the Canucks when he scored his only NHL hat trick in Vancouver during the 1979-80 season. In 1980-81, he played the bulk of the season for Caps AHL farm club in Hershey where he led the league in goals (48) and points (103). He wrapped up his pro career in 1983-84 with New Haven of the AHL where he enjoyed another 100+ point season. He is now in real estate sales and a fixture on the Canucks alumni hockey team.Also an avid golfer, Lofty plays in all alumni fundraising tournaments.
