The only Lebanese-born player ever in the NHL, Eddie Hatoum was a junior with the Hamilton Red Wings, a team sponsored by Detroit. He turned pro with the NHL Wings in 1968-69 and played in the Detroit system until June 10, 1970 when he was selected by the fledgling Vancouver Canucks in the NHL Expansion Draft. He played 26 games for the Canucks in 1970-71, scoring a goal and three assists. He also played for Vancouvers farm clubs in Seattle and Rochester. When the World Hockey Association came on the scene in 1972-73, Hatoum played with both the Vancouver Blazers and Chicago Cougars. In the mid-70s, he played several seasons with the Nelson Maple Leafs Srs. In 1978, he moved to Ottawa where he got into the auto repair business. Two years ago, he relocated back to Richmond where he remains in the car business as a salesman. A devoted member of the Canucks alumni hockey team, Eddie rarely misses a practice or a game.
