Dean Malkoc is one of the alumniǃÙs newest members, having just retired as a pro at the conclusion of the 1998-99 NHL season. Following a fine junior career with Kamloops and Swift Current, ǃ?Mallyǃ? turned pro with Utica in the AHL, the main farm club of the New Jersey Devils, who drafted Malkoc in the 1990 Entry Draft. He played four seasons as a pro but never played an NHL game until the Canucks signed him as a free agent for the 1995-96 season. He played 41 games as a Canuck before Boston claimed him in the 1996 waiver draft. He spent two seasons with the Bruins before the Islanders picked him up as a free agent for his final NHL season (1998-99). MalkocǃÙs NHL totals read: 116 GP-1G+3A=4PTS+299PIM. Now an enthusiastic member of the Canucks Alumni hockey team, Dean is a salesman for a large Vancouver auto dealership.
