The grandson of legendary Vancouver Millionaires star Fred (Cyclone) Taylor, Mark was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers from the University of North Dakota in 1978. After three seasons in the Flyers chain, he was traded to Pittsburgh where he scored 24-31-55 in just 59 games in 1983-84. He played two more seasons with Pittsburgh and then another two in Washington concluding in 1985-86 All told, he played 209 NHL games and scored 42 goals and 68 assists for 110 points. He then went overseas and played five more seasons in Switzerland. Since his retirement, he has been involved in his familys long-established sporting goods business.
