This fine Kitchener junior became a second-round draft choice (30th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks in 1983. He played five seasons in the Canucks organization and another with St. Louis before winding down his NHL career with three campaigns with San Jose, finishing in 1994. He played 234 NHL games, scoring 48-39-87. One of his fondest memories as a Canuck was scoring the winning goal in overtime at the Montreal Forum (3-2, Jan. 7/87). In the minor leagues, Bruce was an IHL first team all star in 1990 and 1991 and led the entire league in scoring in 1990-91 when he had 116 regular-season points and 29 more in the playoffs. Bruce now resides in Bellingham, WA, where he works as a sales rep for a U.S. brewery. An enthusiastic member of the Canucks Alumni hockey team and having just passed his 40th birthday, ǃ?Brucieǃ? can still play the game with the best of them. HeǃÙs also an avid golfer and is very involved in BellinghamǃÙs minor hockey program along with fellow former Canuck and teammate Garth Butcher.
