Alumni help the Homeless
2009-02-20 : With the homelessness issue in Vancouver still at the top of major concern for all British Columbians, the Vancouver Canucks Alumni and other former
NHL players laced up to join members of Vancouver‟s business committee to raise funds and awareness for the cause. The volunteer driven event which is already tradition in some of Canada‟s major cities like Toronto, Calgary and Montreal, celebrated the first of its kind in
the city of Vancouver.
The event, which took place on February 20, 2009 at UBC Thunderbird Arena, gave members
of Vancouver‟s business committee the opportunity to play hockey alongside some of their favorite Vancouver Canucks Alumni and former NHL professionals. Also laced up with the teams was Vancouver‟s Mayor Gregory Robertson who helped score the winning goal for his team.
All proceeds from the event will go to worthy charitable organizations in Vancouver for specific homeless integration projects and programs.
Despite recent tough economic times, the event was able to raise more than $65,000,
which will help in keeping with the organization's mission statement; to "end homelessness" in Canada.

Alumni to play in Smithers
2008-12-16 : The Society of BC Conservation Officers welcomes the Vancouver Canucks Alumni to Smithers for a charity hockey game March 28, 2009, at the Smithers Civic Center. Net proceeds of the game are going to BC Children's Hospital and KidSport. After last year's crushing defeat by the Alumni team in 100 Mile House, the Society of BC Conservation Officers have made some off season acquisitions in hopes of bolstering their line-up against their formidable Alumni opponents. The puck drops at 7:00pm. Tickets are available at Oscar's Source for Sports or Interior Stationary starting February 16. The Society of BC Conservation Officers would like to thank Hawkair as the premier sponsor of this event along with all the other sponsors that have contributed to bring the Vancouver Canucks Alumni to Smithers.
